Racial Traits

  • Starting Ability Score Adjustments: +2 Dex, +2 Wis. Shadow efts are very quick and they possess the cunning of a dangerous hunter. Over time, many of their ability scores continue to improve.
  • Outsider Type: Shadow Efts are medium outsiders.
  • Speed: Land speed is 30 ft.
  • Blindsight: 60 ft.
  • +8 racial bonus on Hide checks while in dark areas; shadow efts blend into their natural environment.
  • Automatic Languages: Shadow efts cannot speak, but they naturally understand Common, Abyssal, and Celestial. Most shadow efts have learned to write these languages as well.
  • Favored Class: Psychic Warrior

Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Psicraft (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), and Spot (Wis).

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the shadow eft.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Shadow efts are proficient with simple and martial weapons. Shadow efts are not proficient with any kind of armor.

Feats: A shadow eft receives one feat at 1st level and another at 3rd level. After 5th level, it gains feats normally according to its effective character level (the total of its Hit Dice, level adjustment, and class levels).

Power Points/Day: A shadow eft's ability to manifest powers is limited by the power points it has available. Its base daily allotment of power points is given below. In addition, it receives bonus power points per day if it has a high Wisdom score.

Shadow Psionics: Shadow efts have access to a small number of psionic powers. At 1st level, it knows only the Prevenom power but it unlocks the knowledge of new powers over time.
At 2nd level, it learns the Control Light power.
At 3rd level, it learns the Psionic Lion's Charge power.
At 4th level, it learns the Cloud Mind power.
At 5th level, it learns the Duodimensional Claw power.

Claws: The shadow eft has two claw attacks that are natural weapons dealing the indicated damage plus its Strength modifier. A shadow eft can use a one-handed weapon and a claw, but when doing so the claw counts as a secondary weapon (adding only half its Strength modifier to damage, and with a -5 modifier on the attack roll).

Aversion to Daylight (Ex): A shadow eft is a creature of the night and loathes light. If exposed to natural daylight (not merely a Daylight spell), it takes a penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks equal to its class level.

Venom of the Mind (Ex): Whenever a shadow eft uses a power that deals Constitution damage, it is healed by psychic transference, regaining hit points equal to its class level for each 1 point of Constitution damage dealt to its victim, no matter the shadow eft's spatial or planar separation from the victim. This healing cannot give it more hit points than its full normal total; excess hit points are lost.

Bite: Starting at 4th level, the shadow eft gains a bite attack that is a natural weapon dealing the indicated damage plus 1-1/2 times its Strength modifier. It can use its bite attack only as a secondary weapon (with a -5 modifier on the attack roll), but still adds 1-1/2 times its Strength modifier to damage.

Hide in Shadows (Su): Starting at 5th level, a shadow eft can use the Hide skill even while being observed. As long as it is within 10 feet of some sort of shadow, a shadow eft can hide itself in the open without having anything to actually hide behind. It cannot, however, hide in its own shadow.
